deep fried cheese, what a great idea
hallo
im im budapest at present, grappling with another foreign keyboard. excuse the typos in advance.
all is well, i had a lovely time at joey and si's... darcy is as adorable as ever, more smiley now and joey seems to have it all under control, she sleeps thru the night and is generally a very happy little lady. kai - or the shadow as we sometimes call him - was as sweet as ever. i managed to get a cold as soon as i got there, which NJ and i always - without fail - do as soon as we arrive at their house. joey is starting to get slightly paranoid about it but i told her its more than likely we just wear ourselves into the ground then collapse when we are in safe hands.
had a great time in spite of my streaming face, caught up with some friends i didnt get to last time i was there and even did a spot of clay pigeon shooting with a double barrelled baretta(?) shotgun. didnt hit a thing but it was fun on a sunny sunday morning.
in summary, all is well. had a great time wandering around prague earlier in the week - as beautiful as everyone says but so packed with tourists i had to leave after a few days... was going to go to vienna afterwards but missed the train (one of those tragic, run-up-the-stairs-as-the-train-pulls-away moments) so caught one to bratislava in slovakia instead and had a pretty bad afternoon trying to find some accomm. i would not recommend slovakia as a tourist destination at all, the people arent very friendly and theres not much to see - a newish fairly characterless city. or perhaps i was just spoilt after prague.
anyway, i lost my way and my temper after a few hours (travelling alone makes for a nasty internal rage) and so went back to the train station and caught a train to vienna after all. arrived late and without accomm as usual but found some on a recommendation from someone in prague and had a great, if not boozy few days wandewring around the beautiful city. i met some really interesting / amusing / disturbing characters there who i will describe in more detail when i see you next.
anyway, budapest! arrived yesterday afternoon and its a thriving, buzzing place. im gonna go get out there now.
see u soon, back in amsterdam at the end of the week. croatia is looking a bit too far a hike for the time i have left so we (other aussie i am now travelling with) are going to perhaps try and get to oktober fest in munich instead.
